I know it's not my fault, but I just can't help wishing I'd taken the risk and brought little Ethel into the house and just kept her in the bathroom until I could get her to a vet to make sure she was disease and worm free and therefore could interact with Lucy.

I know it's not my fault. I just wish she'd stayed on my porch even just a few minutes longer, then maybe she'd have missed whatever hit her and she could possibly come back to me if she still didn't have a home to go to.

I'm not giving up on having a little Ethel/Ricky though. I'd love to have a cat who's the opposite of Lucy in a lot of ways. I mean I love Lucy to pieces...

She's definitely not ever coming back. My mom found Little Ethel on the next road flattened (presumably from a car tire) this morning when she went to the store.

Now I'm kicking myself for not trying...
