I think you should get a 1 inch flat iron. A 1.5 inch seems nice because my hair is thicker and hella wavy, but like rjulie510 said, it can be hard to get close to the roots. With 100% ceramic higher-end irons like Sedu, Solia or CHI, it would take much less time to straighten compared to cheaper irons.

Personally for my wavy hair, Solia, even at the highest heat setting, didn't straighten my hair well.
